Happy Endings > Hunter

Hunter was surrendered to a shelter in Ohio where it is extremely unusual for older dogs like him to be held for ANY amount of time. However, not only did the shelter keep him and not euthanize him, they paid for surgery for what turned out to be a benign growth to be removed from his hip area. This goes to show you how sweet this dog is!! A volunteer in Ohio took him into foster care and gave him some good nutrition and some regular exercise and socialization with his other dogs. He did just great and responded well and thrived! Before long, we had several folks interested in Hunter from his website listing in New England on Petfinder.

The best fit was a woman who lived in Boston who was willing to do a direct adoption of Hunter forgoing the need for foster care for him out east. Our foster care program was full at the time and we did not want to delay Hunter's chance at a forever home, so with his prospective adopter in the wings, we arranged for Hunter to be transported to Massachusetts. Hunter was a trooper and made it through a very long, leg to leg transport with two overnight layovers, one in New York and one in Connecticut, before arriving in Massachusetts. His forever mom met him there and has been in love with him ever since! You can see them walking together, to their hearts' content, every day all over Boston Common and beyond! Now that the weather is HOT, you can also spy him taking the occasional dip in the city fountains, too!
